About this Product

Bring powerful locomotives and hefty freight to life with the action-heavy MRCE Dispolok Pack! With a rich history and lots to play with, this pack is the perfect way to freshen up your collection.

Following the turn of the 21st Century, a handful of Siemens’ locomotives, which had recently been shipped to their buyers, were returned owing to technical issues found upon entrance into service. While not ideal, Siemens took it in their stride to repair the faults and ensure the locomotives were ready for service proper, and to avoid working at a loss, took full advantage of the European rail transport deregulation.

The deregulation would allow the leasing of traction and rolling stock to newly-formed private companies, instead of them having to purchase and maintain such stock outright. It was this that saw Siemens set up “Dispolok”, a locomotive-leasing division that would put their returned traction to profitable use. The project was a success, and soon more locomotives would be built specifically with leasing in mind.

Before long however, Siemens, who was retiring from the leasing business, reached an agreement for Mitsui Rail Capital Europe to acquire the brand in 2006. By this point, around 100 locomotives were in the Yellow & Grey Dispolok brand, and MRCE added to that by ordering from Siemens around the time of their acquirement of the brand. Two years later, and the company was renamed to MRCE Dispolok, which saw a new Black livery added to locomotives. The brand was further changed to MRCE GmbH in 2013.

Over the years, a multitude of locomotive types have been leased by MRCE/Dispolok to provide operators a reliable choice of traction, that is able to put down as much power required for any duty. The fleet includes Siemens’ very own ES 64 F, F4 and U2 electric locomotives, and their ER20 Eurorunners. Additionally, EMD JT42CWR’s have been a recent popular addition, this locomotive is better known as the EMD Class 66, a Europe-wide favourite with over 650 produced.

The 1860s, iron rails were rapidly spreading throughout Germany, including those of the Angermünde–Stralsund railway which was built to shorten journey times between the north of the country and Sweden. There was however an opportunity to get rails even closer to the Baltic border, the island of Rügen.

It would not be until 1883 when a railway on Rügen soil was built. It originally stretched as far as Bergen auf Rügen to begin with, and was extended 8 years later to reach the northern coast of the island at Sassnitz. At this point however, there was no fixed crossing with the mainland, instead, the body of water known as the Strelasund was traversed by ferry.

Traffic steadily grew in popularity as Germany and Sweden were ever closer linked. Mail would cross borders via Rügen faster than ever before, and eventually, a railway ferry was established between the two countries to bring them even closer together. The success of the ferry urged a greater connection to the mainland, and so in the 1930s a bridge was built over the Strelasund.

It wasn’t just Sassnitz and Sweden that benefitted from the island railway, the coastal town of Binz also found itself served by a single track branch line from Lietzow, and today serves as an equally important destination with every other train terminating there.

Following electrification, and the fall of the iron curtain, Rügen has become something of a holiday resort and has been referred to as “Brighton for Berliners” by those who have reviewed its Baltic coastline; and what better way to go on a summer holiday than by scenic rail!

Inselbahn: Stralsund – Sassnitz brings both passenger and freight flavours of island rail operations to life!

The island railway between Stralsund and Sassnitz with a branch to the Baltic resort of Binz in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania invites you as an engine driver to let your thoughts wander off on a holiday. As a train driver, you should not digress too far on the picturesque and scenically interesting route, because there is work waiting!

For example, there is an InterCity that is supposed to take holidaymakers to the beautiful Baltic Sea resort of Binz. After this service, you take a regional express back to Stralsund main station. Be aware of the rather tight timetable. This is precisely because the line is an important freight connection in northern Germany in addition to passenger traffic. You can experience the freight traffic with the BR155 in heavy container service. And it would not be normal railway operations if there wasn’t a special operation waiting for you…

Included Scenarios

  • [BR143] RIVET – RE 9 to Rostock
  • [BR120] RIVET – IC 2053 to the Ostseebad
  • [BR155] RIVET – Sea freight for the economy
  • [BR155] RIVET – Winterwonderland

Key Features

  • specially recorded announcements included
  • a wide range of exciting tasks with different locomotives
  • 4 scenarios between Stralsund and Sassnitz

About this Product

The scenic island railway that traverses the hills of Rügen between Stralsund and Sassnitz has arrived for Train Simulator.

About this Product

Famed for its natural beauty and historical importance, the picturesque Linke Rheinstrecke and Mainbahn come together as one in Train Simulator’s Frankfurt – Koblenz route!

The West Rhine Railway, or Linke Rheinstrecke, dates back to the 1840s as a gradual effort to link Köln, Bonn and Koblenz to Mainz, with the southern section between Koblenz and Mainz opening in the late 1850s. This line is well known for running along the left bank of the Rhein.

The Main Railway, or Mainbahn, was built following the completion of the Rhein-Main-Bahn which connected Mainz to Aschaffenburg. This new line was to branch off at Bischofsheim and continue along the Rhein, eventually reaching Frankfurt am Main, and was built in less than 2 years, opening in January 1863.

Combined, the Linke Rheinstrecke and Mainbahn offered a direct route from Köln to Frankfurt, and until the eventual opening of the highspeed line, made it one of the busiest lines in all of Germany. Even in recent history it remains important however, with a station built to serve Frankfurt Airport in 1972, followed by Gateway Gardens station which opened in 2019. Both of these stations are reached by means of an underground tunnel which burrows itself under the terminals of the Airport.

The lines are served by a mix of regional and intercity traffic, although most notably in the past few years, services have been strikingly branded as SÜWEX (Südwest-Express), opting for a base white livery rather than red, and using a fleet of state-of-the-art DB BR 429.1 EMUs.

Like this Addon a lot, one of Germany’s most beautyfull lines, highly recommended!!
Great Trains too!

~ Giolones

In one word, indescribable. One absolutely fantastic route that are standing out above 99% of all the routes. The scenery, the stations, platforms, vegetation, rolling stock and the Flirt, all top class with no doubt. Yes there are a few speed errors but will learn where they are, FPS very good with a slight drop at Frankfurt for a very short period but not unbearable. Well I am very impressed with this route and must say well done, really well done DTG, amazing indeed. I want to give this route a 100% but because it is so good I will give 200% with no doubt, don’t even hesitate to buy, you wont regret one bit of it.
